The Degree Conferring Ceremony will take place on 1 October 2010 at 15.00 in the Church of the Badia Fiesolana. President Josep Borrell will award Ph.D. and LL.M. diplomas to around 90 alumni, the largest number of diplomas conferred in any single EUI ceremony.

During the Ceremony, Joana Mendes will also receive the Mauro Cappelletti Prize awarded for the best doctoral thesis defended at the EUI in the field of comparative law.

Christopher Hanretty is the first winner of the newly set-up François Mény Prize. This prize is awarded for the best thesis in the comparative study of Political Institutions.

The programme also includes the conferral of three EUI Honoris Causa Doctorates to Sabino Cassese , Jürgen Kocka  and Richard Rose .

A string quartet from the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole will provide the appropriate musical background.

Following the ceremony, all participants and guests are invited to partake of a cocktail on the Lower Loggia.

Please note that for those wishing to follow the ceremony but are unable to be there in person, a live streaming service  will be available.
