The Nobel Prize for Economics has just been awarded to Thomas Sargent, honorary EUI doctor and Max Weber lecturer in 2008, and Christopher Sims (Princeton University). Sargent will be Fernand Braudel Fellow at the Economics Department later this year.
Professors Thomas Sargent and Christopher Sims won the Nobel Prize for Economics for research that sheds light on the cause-and-effect relationship between the economy and policy instruments such as interest rates and government spending.
