Successful candidates come from all the European Union Member States, Associate States and some non-EU countries to study for a Ph.D. in the Department of Economics at the EUI where, in the words of Mirko Wiederholt (Ph.D. 2003, Assistant Professor at Northwestern University), 'The EUI is one of the top Ph.D. programmes in Europe. The Economics Department has a strong faculty and a well organized course programme.'
