Applying to be a Visitor
Visiting Fellows
Post-doctoral scholars can be appointed as Visiting Fellows. Grants are not allocated for this kind of fellowship and the Department assumes that fellows are self-financing. For visits of over one month requests must be approved by the HEC Department and by the Bureau of the Academic Council.
Visiting Fellows can participate in all EUI academic activities and use the Library. Unfortunately the Department is not in a position to offer office space or secretarial assistance.
Applications stating the purpose and dates of the visit should be sent, by email, together with a curriculum vitae, to the Departmental Assistant, Anna Coda Nunziante at least three working months prior to the proposed visit. July and August are holiday months and cannot be included in this calculation.
Visiting Students
Post-graduate students registered in a similar postgraduate programme at another university or institute may be appointed as Visiting Students. The normal stay is 1-6 months. Visits of 6-10 months must be approved by Admissions Committee and in no case may a visit exceed 10 months.
Detailed applications stating the purpose and dates of the visit should be addressed, together with a curriculum vitae, outline of the current Ph.D. research, and a supporting reference from the supervisor of the research, to the Departmental Assistant, Anna Coda Nunziante according to the following timetable:
-
by 15 May for a visit in the 1st term (October-December)
-
by 31 October for a visit in the 2nd term (January-March)
-
by 28 January for a visit in the 3rd term (April-June)
The decision will be announced about one month after the deadline.
Before applying to become a Visiting Student, check whether a simple application to the Library as External User would cover your needs. See Library Access Policy for external users.
If an applicant for the status of Visiting Student needs a certificate to obtain a subsidy or grant from any source, he/she must provide the exact address of the grant-awarding authority and a template of the relevant type of certificate by email at least two weeks in advance.
Visiting Students will be non-degree students at the EUI. They can take part in all EUI academic activities and use the Library, but are not entitled to a working space.
The Department does not issue a certificate of attendance to Visiting Students.
Visiting Students cannot apply to the Ph.D. programme during the academic year of their stay at the EUI.
N.B. EUI is not an Italian university and should not be considered as such for the purpose of a research visit.
External Library Users
External scholars seeking access to the Library to pursue their research must submit their requests directly the Library on Admission Request Form for Non-EUI Members .
External Library Users will not be considered as either Visiting Fellows or Visiting Students and are not entitled to follow the HEC seminars.
