Thesis Research
The Department of Law has a well-established reputation in European law as well as in international law, comparative private and public law and legal theory.
International and European law are the strongest elements in our programme , including a long-standing experience in human-rights protection, social law, competition law, international economic and environmental law, and the impact of globalisation on European and national legal systems and constitutional structures.
The Department offers a four-year course leading to the doctorate. Researchers are supervised by a Professor in the Department , and take part in departmental seminars on the basis of a structured programme during their first year and second year, and on a voluntary basis thereafter.
Researchers receive a Masters of Law (LL.M.) degree at the end of their first year and submit their dissertation within the fourth year of their doctoral studies as the basis for the conferral of the Ph.D.
