Gender and Migration Working Group
The Gender and Migration Working Group is an interdisciplinary working group, which discusses the importance of gender and migration issues in contemporary societies.
The working group is set up by a group of postdoctoral fellows in various disciplines, and is supported by Prof. Ruth Rubio-Marín . Its purpose is to explore issues relevant to the intersection of gender and migration such as: religion, sexuality, femininities/masculinities, social activism, and race/ethnicity.
The Gender and Migration Working Group aims to be a friendly and innovative setting for discussion across disciplines on a wide range of topics, and to experiment with various presentation formats. Every session will address one or more of the themes proposed above, under the coordination of a different person each time. The person presenting will be free to select the format of the session choosing between a presentation of her/his work, a discussion based on relevant literature that s/he wishes to share and discuss, a film screening, and so forth.
The Gender and Migration Working Group will meet on the third Thursday of each month. The complete list of speakers/themes will be decided with the participants of the group, depending on their research interests and projects.
It will also be inviting special guests, such as internationally renowned scholars who will be at the EUI in the coming months.
