Biographical note
Annett Fleischer took her Master’s Degree (Magister Artium) in Social Anthropology at Free University Berlin (concentration: rural-urban migration in Mali). From 2004 to 2008 she was a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock. In April 2010, Annett Fleischer defended her doctoral thesis with the title "Making families among Cameroonian ‘bush fallers’ in Germany: marriage, migration, and the law" at the Institute for Social Anthropology, Free University Berlin. Her dissertation analyzes the interplay of transnational mobility, marriage, family, and kinship among migrants, and the overarching legal framework of immigration and integration.
Annett Fleischer is currently Research Assistant in the Cross-Regional Information System (CRIS) on the reintegration of migrants in their countries of origin. Previously, she was working as consultant for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and for UNFPA.
Research interests
Her expertise and research interests focus on migration, integration, transnationalism, population dynamics, development, health, social protection and climate change.
