Global Governance

Global Governance Programme

Global Governance has become a key concept in many academic and policy debates. There is strong awareness nowadays that many issues have a global dimension, and cannot be effectively dealt with at the level of individual states or regional organizations. The world faces a myriad of increasingly complex issues, such as humanitarian crises and intervention, terrorism, conflict resolution and peace-building, poverty, climate change and instability in the international economic system. Resolving these issues requires the involvement of global players, ranging from private actors to intergovernmental organizations. At the RSCAS, the Global Governance Programme (GGP) addresses these issues, sharing knowledge and developing new ideas, and serving as a bridge between research and policy-making. In addition, the Centre also hosts a research team working on Development Policy.

European Report on Development

The European Report on Development (ERD) is aimed at stimulating debate and research on development issues and amplifying the EU’s voice internationally. The ERD provides linkages and synergies between rich expertise in development-related issues in research and academic institutions and policymaking throughout Europe. It also serves as a focal point for researchers in European countries and various regions of the world, facilitates discussions with policymakers and civil society, and stimulates interaction between various European national agencies.
