An EU–GCC Dialogue for Energy Stability and Sustainability
This project was initiated in 2003 and is directed by Giacomo Luciani at the RSCAS, in cooperation with the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies, the National Technical University of Athens and ECONERGY Sal of Beirut.

The final conference took place in April 2005.

EU MEDSUPPLY[December 2001-June 2003]
MEDSUPPLY – Development by southern and eastern Mediterranean countries of energy sources for Europe. This consortium was co-financed by the European Commission DG-TREN (Synergy programme) and has been carried out by a consortium composed of L'Observatoire Méditerranéen de l'Energie  OME (co-ordinator), Sonatrach and the European University Institute.

The Mediterranean Programme Discussion Group on 'Energy and Politics'
This forum debates matters relating to energy and politics, such as oil and gas markets, how they function, developments and trends; the geopolitics of energy and security, energy and national politics (in oil and gas producing countries and OECD counties); the regulation of the energy sector; energy sector company strategies; corporate governance; international energy organizations and régimes. It was initiated in 2003 and is directed by Giacomo Luciani.

Economic Networks and the Politics of Fiscal Policy Reform in the Middle East [1999-2003]
Project directed by Steven Heydemann (Social Science Research Council, New York). The manuscript 'Networks of Privilege: The Politics of Economic Reform in the Middle East', was published by New York, Palgrave – St. Martin´s Press in 2004.

Tourism in the Southern Mediterranean [1999-2003]
Project directed by Kamran Ali (University of Texas, Austin) and Martina Rieker (American University, Cairo). The manuscript 'Trans-Actions: Tourism in the Southern Mediterranean' is under review for publication.

The Social Capital of Religion and Ethnicity in the Eastern Mediterranean [2001]
In 2001 the Mediterranean Programme sponsored the pilot phase of a project directed by Armando Salvatore, Bo Stråth and Peter Wagner.
