Pietro Grasso, President of the Italian Senate, and Professor Joseph Weiler, President of the EUI, met on 12 February 2014.
During the meeting, Professor Weiler illustrated to President Grasso the academic and research activities carried out at the EUI, and emphasized their connection with the process of European integration and related policies.
Professor Weiler particularly stressed how grateful the EUI is to the Italian Republic for the use of the state owned villas that make up the campus.
President Grasso congratulated Professor Weiler for the high academic value of research work carried out at the EUI and said he envisaged a growing interaction between the academic world and Italian government institutions.
