GNU/Linux and Open Source at the EUI

Updated: January 15, 2009

The aim of this website is to provide informations to everyone interested in using GNU/Linux at the European University Institute. I can assure you: "there is a life after and beyond Windows, also at the EUI!". This website is however still a work in progress and there are probably lots of errors in the instructions. Please contact me for corrections and comments.

Note

The instructions on this site are written basically for Ubuntu users, but they should also work (sometimes with little modifications) for every modern linux distribution (OpenSUSE, Debian, Fedora, Mandriva, etc.). If you have experience with linux, you will not have troubles in adapting them. Otherwise please contact me and I will give you some hints.

Note 2

As usual in the GNU world, the solutions provided by this website have NO GUARANTEE. Use them on your own risk. But do not worry: there are not dangerous...

News

Organizing a linux installation day. The very combative group of linux users at the EUI is organizing a great offensive for the next spring.
