Research

  • From November 2012 - May 2013, ACO carried out research on the career progression of former Max Weber Fellows in order to assess the impact of the MWP on the academic labour market. The report can be accessed in full here.
  • From March-April 2012 ACO staff produced an internal report following a survey of the performance of EUI researchers and postdocs on the academic job market.
  • In October 2011, the ACO published, in collaboration with the European Economic Association (EEA), the European Sociological Association (ESA), and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), the report Survey on Research Funding for the Social Sciences in Europe
  • In June 2011, the ACO in collaboration with the European Economic Association Standing Committee on Research published the joint report Research Funding for Economics in Europe.
  • The ACO staff contributed to chapters 3 and 4 of the MWP Self Evaluation Report 2006-2009
  • The May 2008 ACO Report, Towards an Open and Competitive European Area for Research Careers summarises major ACO findings and reflections on the structures and models of academic careers in Europe. It also provides insights into questions of salary and gender in academia.

  • The 2008 ACO Report was reviewed by Euraxess
  • A review on the 2008 ACO report was published by Times Higher Education ACO Report (7-14 August 2008) focusing on salaries and the country models of university career systems
  • Dr. Arnout Mertens introduced the ACO and some facts and trends related to academic careers in the humanities and social sciences in an articile published in the Winter 2007 issue of the EUI Review

Presentations

  • MWP Director Prof. Ramon Marimon gave a presentation on The Role and the Competences of the European Union in Education and Training at the Jean Monnet Conference in Madrid on 26 January 2010.
  • Dr. Michele Grigolo gave a presentation on behalf of the ACO at the PRAGES workshop ‘Practicing Gender Equality at the EUI' on 28 October 2009
