European Research Council
ERC grants are awarded through open competition to projects headed by young and established researchers, irrespective of their origins, who are working in Europe. The sole criterion for selection is excellence. The ERC complements other funding activities in Europe such as those of the national research funding agencies, and is a flagship component of the 'Ideas Programme' of the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
Ford Foundation
The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) provides opportunities for advanced study to exceptional individuals who will use this education to become leaders in their respective fields, furthering development in their own countries and greater economic and social justice worldwide. To ensure that fellows are drawn from diverse backgrounds, the IFP actively seeks candidates from social groups and communities that lack systematic access to higher education.
FP7 - Seventh Research Framework Programme
The 7th Research Framework Programme funds research in most disciplinary areas. It is the European Union’s main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007-2013.
Fulbright Programme
The Fulbright Programme provides grants for graduate students, scholars and professionals, and teachers and administrators from the U.S. and other countries.
Marie Curie Actions
The Marie Curie Actions offer numerous opportunities to individual researchers to participate in a research team in another country. Funding is available for researchers to move both within Europe and internationally. Three types of so-called 'Individual-Driven Actions' are available for researchers of all ages with at least four years experience or with a doctoral degree.
National Endowment for the Humanities (US)
The NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the U.S. government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.

Scholarship Net delivers international scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships for international students. Students can access scholarship information for free, and providers can submit scholarship listings for free.
UACES - University Association for Contemporary European Studies
The University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) provides an independent forum for informed debate and discussion of European affairs. It is directly involved in promoting research and teaching in European Studies. UACES grants fellowships for postgraduates and researchers working on European integration.
Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars supports research in the social sciences and humanities. Men and women from a wide variety of backgrounds, including government, the non-profit sector, the corporate world and professions, as well as academia, are eligible for appointment
