Hannes Hofmeister completed his undergraduate studies in law at the Universities of Cambridge and Regensburg, where he was a National Merit Foundation Scholar (Studienstiftung). After successfully completing a master’s degree in international politics at the University of Cambridge, he returned to Regensburg to pursue his Ph.D.

His research interests include international relations, EU law, international law and comparative constitutional law.In 2007-8, he is a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute, Florence.
