Gaye Gungor earned her Ph.D. degree in Political Science from Florida International University in Miami, FL. Her dissertation, entitled the European Parliament, Membership Expansions, and Organizational Change, examined the structural and procedural effects of the successive European Union enlargements on the European Parliament. Her research interests include organization theory, legislative reform and policymaking, formal institutions and institutional change, political parties, public opinion and elections.

Gaye Gungor has been a visiting lecturer at University of Miami (Spring 2007), University of Florida (Fall 2004), and Vesalius College in Brussels (Summer 2003). Also, she was a visiting scholar at the Center for European Studies, University of Florida, in Fall of 2004. She has taught courses on International Relations, Comparative Politics, and EU politics and institutions.

Gaye Gungor’s article on the European Parliament was published in an edited volume, Towards the Completion of Europe: Analysis and Perspectives of the New European Union Enlargement (Miami-EU Center of Excellence, University of Miami Press, 2006). She is also the co-author of an article (with Amie Kreppel), “Institutional Integration of an Expanded EU or How ‘New’ European Actors Fit into ‘Old’ European Institutions” in IHS Political Science Series,March 2006.

Gaye Gungor, a native of Turkey, is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
