At the core of my academic agenda lies the need to understand and to critically interrogate the transformation of welfare in post-communist Europe both in the context of post-communist transformation as well as in the context of EU integration and processes of Europeanisation.

After studying social policy, social work and political science, and working as a young lecturer in Hungary, my Ph.D. (2002-2005, University of Bristol, UK) was a comparative study which looked at the way EU Accession impacted on Hungarian, Croatian and Slovene social policy making.

Since then, first as an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow and later as a Lecturer at the University of Bristol, I have been looking at discourses of the impact of Enlargement on the future of EU social policy, the Europeanisation of policy-making in New Member States, and the impact of the EU on the social inclusion agenda in New Member States and Candidate countries.

Recently I have been working on possible typologies for the emerging welfare regimes in New Member States. I am also interested in the social dimension of the EU Accession process in Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey.

I am a Lecturer in comparative social policy at the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol, and a Visiting Fellow at ISES (Institute for Social and European Studies), Koszeg, Hungary.

So far I have published several journal articles on EU Accession and the EU Integration of Post-communist welfare in journals such as Journal of European Social Policy, Social Policy & Administration, and European Societies, and contributed chapters to several books.
