My research interests are in general themes of public international law such as the legal consequences of internationally wrongful acts of States and international organizations, and the international monitoring mechanisms on human rights violations.

I am also interested in the interaction among various sectors of international law, and particularly between norms of international economic law and normative systems expressing non trade values. I am also attracted by the analysis of the influence of public international law in European Union law.

During my year at the EUI, I will mostly work on the human rights dimension of the international organizations’ activities. I will especially concentrate on the employment by international organizations of private security companies in the context of peace-keeping or peace-building operations.

I am a teaching assistant at the University of Florence (Faculty of Political Science), where I have taught International Economic Law (during the academic year 2008/2009). Previously, I also taught International Law on Development Co-operation at the Faculty of Political Science (University of Pisa).

In 2007 I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Padova, with a thesis on the legal problems relating to the impact of free trade in goods on the protection of human rights, especially on the fundamental rights of workers.
