I graduated with an MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens. I hold an MSc in Decision Sciences and a Ph.D in Econometrics from Athens University of Economics and Business, where I worked as a postdoctoral associate at the Department of Finance. I was employed as a research fellow at the European Institute for Statistics, Probability, Stochastic Operations Research and its Applications (Eurandom), Technical University of Eindhoven and at the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics and Finance (CeNDEF), University of Amsterdam. I have also worked in other research positions in the academia and as a financial and expert consultant in the public and private sector. In 2008 I joined the European University Institute (Max Weber Programme) with the aim of further enhancing my research skills in an international multidisciplinary environment.

I have participated in many national and European research projects (NWO, EU 3rd Framework Programme, EIB, EC DG-XIII/ESPRIT, EPET-II/Hellenic Ministry of Development, Penek/CRPF etc.) and I have experience as a teaching associate and lecturer.

My research interests include spectral and time series econometrics, economic dynamics, computational intelligence, optimal control, complex systems and econophysics. My work has been published in many journals including Journal of Forecasting, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Macroeconomics, Energy Economics, Economics Letters, European Journal of Finance etc.

I strongly emphasize multidisciplinary research through applying techniques and methodologies from economic theory, physics, engineering, biology and psychology, in studying the complexity of economic and financial systems on a macro/microscopic level.
