An International Portal of Scholarship in Economics

Economists Online, a portal project of the Nereus network of university libraries, was discontinued at the end of 2013 because of changes in the information landscape, and also because of maintenance costs. The economics output of consortium members continues to be available in the RePEc service. Paul Ayris, President of LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries) writes that the project has had many benefits:

"Existing information resources such as RePEc and new content of excellence from over 1,000 top economics scholars have been unlocked.  Articles, working papers, book references, conference proceedings, reports, government publications and statistics have been made openly available online.  Sources have been provided with as much full text and raw data as possible, and in a number of languages, including English, German, Dutch, French, Italian and Spanish.  The project has also given a real boost to the repository development in participating universities which had not previously developed a repository or an Open Access policy, and it has helped all libraries to build up expertise on a number of relevant issues, from metadata standards through to intellectual property rights."
