METOIKOS Regional Workshop I
Between facts and challenges of circular migration: the case of Albania and Greece
Athens, 12 April 2011
The METOIKOS Workshop in Athens has been the first of the four Regional Workshops scheduled to take place in four EU cities (Athens, Rome, Madrid, Warsaw) between April and June 2011. The aim of these workshops is to foster discussion on circular migration with a view to raising awareness about the challenges and advantages of circular mobility in the wider EU Neighbourhood and the Euro-Mediterranean region more generally.

The Athens METOIKOS Workshop discussed circular migration under the light of the METOIKOS research findings on Albanian circular migrants to Greece.
The policy challenges of circular migration, its prospects and its usefulness for the host country, the country of origin and the migrants themselves in the current economic climate were the main questions around which the discussion has developed.
