The European University Institute (EUI) is a European academic institution, created in 1972 by the Member States of the founding European Communities. It promotes research at the highest level in a European perspective and combines law, economics, political and social science, as history. Its Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) devoted to interdisciplinary and comparative research and to promote work on the major issues facing the process of European economic integration and European society. RSCAS created the Florence School of Regulation in 2004 in cooperation with the European association of energy regulators (CEER) and the European Commission. It created the Loyola de Palacio Chair in European energy policy in 2008 to respond to the growing importance of energy in the EU policy agenda. Both are supported by an important network of dynamic European energy companies used to respect the independence and free mind being the rule at EUI.
The project is funded by the 7th Framework Programme.
