From Distribution Networks to Smart Distribution Systems: Rethinking the Regulation of European Electricity DSOs

TOPIC 12 - Semester 6 (JANUARY - MAY 2013)

led by Ignacio Pérez-Arriaga

With this report, we contributed to ongoing discussions within the Smart Grid Task Force (DG Energy), the London Citizens' Energy Forum, and various stakeholder associations. How are local generation and consumption systems evolving? Will massive PV or electrical cars open a radically new energy system? What role would the “new smart grids” play here or there? Is the distribution business undergoing a complete revolution? How could EU regulation follow or anticipate?
