Gender Studies Programme
PROJECT ENDED The Gender Studies Programme was established at the RSCAS at the European University Institute in October 2000, and built on over a decade's work in this field at the EUI.
The Programme's general objectives are to support and develop the scholarly work of research students fellows, academic staff and visitors to the EUI in the study of gender, and to stimulate interdisciplinary work across the EUI's four teaching Departments. The Programme holds occasional seminars and workshops.
Professors at the EUI whose research covers gender issues include:
The Annual Lecture Ursula Hirschmann Series on Gender and Europe promotes an understanding of the linkages between gender and European issues, as well as an idea of Europe which recognises differences, including that of gender. On 22 April 2008, Prof. Chiara Saraceno (Università degli Studi
di Torino) will deliver the seventh Ursula Hirschmann Annual Lecture on Gender and Europe on 'Gender and Care in Europe: old solutions, new developments'.
Launched in November 2006, the Gender Working Group meets bimonthly under the guidance of Prof. Giulia Calvi.
