The Centre for International Migration and Refugee Studies was established in 1991, and is responsible for conducting research on various aspects of international migration involving Hungary. Depending on the nature of the topic and the focus of the research, the research activities have been of various kinds ranging from theoretical studies to large-scale empirical surveys and consulting activities. The interdisciplinary research team consists of sociologists, economists, lawyers as well as experts in political science and public policy.
