The following highly selective list of web sites is grouped into three categories:

[official US and EU government sites] [transatlantic civil society dialogues] [academic resources]

Recommendations for new links are welcome, and can be sent to atlantic@eui.eu.

I. Official (US and EU) Government Sites ()

Because of the extensive interdependence between the United States and the European Union, nearly every government department in the US, and nearly every Directorate-General in the European Commission, interacts to some extent with their counterparts across the Atlantic, and many maintain web-based guides to transatlantic relations. In addition, the US and the EU are important members of numerous multilateral organizations. The following selected sites provide useful introductions to both transatlantic relations and multilateral governance, and serve as portals to related governmental and nongovernmental websites.

The Delegation of the European Union to the United States is an excellent place to begin in any search for information about the US/EU transatlantic relationship. In addition to providing general information on the EU to Americans, the site features a page dedicated to the Transatlantic Partnership, featuring key documents and speeches, and useful links to US and especially EU resources. The Delegation website also features the publications Eufocus and Euinsight, both of which contain regular features on EU/US relations.

The EU's Europe Web Site features a large number of resources on transatlantic relations, most notably the home page of The Directorate-General for External Relations, which maintains a detailed page dedicated to EU/US Relations, including the invaluable publication 'EU/US News', which is downloadable in pdf format. See also the web page of the Directorate-General for Trade, which includes a page devoted to US/EU trade relations with relevant statistics, and the web page for Economic and Monetary Affairs. The European Central Bank regulates monetary policy and price stability for European Monetary Union. Its website provides general information on its structure and activities as well as detailed statistics and policy guidelines.

On the US side, The US Mission to the European Union maintains an equally detailed website, featuring alphabetically listed and detailed dossiers on dozens of key transatlantic issues, as well as summit communications, key speeches by US officials and links to US government agencies and other organizations.

The US State Department Bureau of European Affairs also maintains a detailed web site, taking in not only relations with the European Union but also US policy towards the Balkans and other European countries. Resources include background notes on European countries and US policies toward them, State Department daily briefings, and links to US Missions and Consulates throughout Europe.

On transatlantic security, see the website of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

The European Union maintains a website on EU Foreign and Security Policy as does the High Representative of CFSP. See also the aforementioned web page for the The Directorate-General for External Relations of the European Commission.

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) handles multilateral trade agreements and disputes between the US and the EU. Their website features information on signed agreements, the various trade rounds and dispute settlements and the status of both parties within the WTO.

The Bank for International Settlements is an international organisation that "fosters cooperation among central banks and other agencies in pursuit of monetary and financial stability".

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) also has useful information on trade policies and compiles studies of economic and trade activities.

II. Transatlantic Civil Society Dialogues ()

The Transatlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) was the first and arguably most influential of the official transatlantic dialogues, bringing together the chief executive officers of major European and American firms. Its website contains information about the organization and activities of the TABD, including its various working groups and CEO conferences; and current and past newsletters.

The Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) brings together consumer organizations on both sides of the Atlantic, and meets regularly to formulate and present formal opinions to policymakers in the US and the EU. Its website features statements and agendas from its various meetings, as well as working group documents in the area of food, trade, and e-commerce, and press releases, events, and links.

The Transatlantic Information Exchange Service (TIESweb), is an indispensable resource for those interested in transatlantic dialogues and governance. Sponsored by governments on both sides of the Atlantic and independent in its mission to serve as a communications link between people on both sides of the Atlantic, TIESweb is organized into various sections dealing with subjects such as 'Civil Society', 'Education', and 'Work and Representation' (which features news and links particularly relevant to the Transatlantic Labor Dialogue). The site also features news about recent conferences and events, as well as serving as the home for the TAED website, and a special section on the New Transatlantic Agenda. TIESweb also offers an electronic newsletter, to which users may subscribe on-line.

III. Academic Resources on Transatlantic Relations ()

The European Research Papers Archive ( ) provides a common portal for the working papers series of six institutions: the Robert Schuman Centre and Academy of European Law at the European University Institute (Florence); the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (Cologne); Advanced Research on the Europeanisation of the Nation-State (ARENA, Oslo); the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES); the European Integration On-line Papers series; and the Jean Monnet Working Papers at Harvard University. Many of these papers address issues of transatlantic relations.

The European Union Studies Association in the US is an organisation whose goal is to foster scholarly interest and understanding of the European Union. Different 'interest sections' within the association focus on the study of law, political economy, EU-Latin America relations, economics, public opinion and participation and finally, the EU as a global actor. The website also has links to various teaching resources and key academic institutions.

The Network of European Union Centers is the common website for the ten official EU Centers in the United States, hosted and maintained by the offices of the European Community Studies Association. The site provides direct links to all ten EU Centers, which have sponsored numerous conferences and workshops on transatlantic relations, as well as hyperlinked summaries of major events sponsored by the various Centers.
