EURhistAR

The EURhistAR database is the tool used to enter and process the archival description of the holdings (fonds) and collections held in the Historical Archives. It contains about 127,000 records, organized according to international standards for archival description, ISAD(G) .

The visitor accesses EURhistAR through user-friendly portals: by research units, list of main groups of holdings, holdings listed in alphabetical order or by in a table. The data can be viewed in HTML format, constructed in a dynamic fashion using specially designed software.

The philosophy behind EURhistAR is the result of an archival/computing think-tank launched by the HAEU. The think-tank examined the standardization of archival descriptions as one of the primary objectives of their mandate, making the Historical Archives one of the first archival institutions to promote the application of ISAD(G).
