The Jean-Pierre Gouzy archival deposit is now open for consultation

The private papers of the French journalist Jean-Pierre Gouzy that have been deposited in the Historical Archives and are now available for research at the Historical Archives of the European Union.  

The fonds comprises a total of 86 files which cover the period from 1967 to 2008.

A Pro-European militant  from the very beginning, Gouzy was present at the Hague Congress of Europe held in 1948, he also participated in the European Federalist Movement where he was nominated Vice-President from 1958-1959 and President of the French branch from 1952 to 1973.  Furthermore, he contributed to the foundation of the International Centre for European Training (CIFE) where he became Secretary-General from 1954 to 1983. Amongst his various positions were those of Political Director of the publication “L’Europe en Formation”, from 1969 on, as well as President of the International Association of European Journalists (1978) and Vice-President of the “Maison de l’Europe” in Paris (1978).

However it is the documents created during his time in the association ‘Réalités européennes du présent’ (1967-2008), that have been inventoried with the file descriptions available on the website of the Historical Archives of the EU, concerning  his contribution to the organisation of European seminars from the late 1960s to the beginning of the new millennium.

This collection shall soon by expanded by a second deposit by Gouzy.
