Posted on 06 May 2016

The Ambassador of Malta to Italy, H.E. Vanessa Frazier, visited the European University Institute (EUI) on Tuesday 12 April to get to know the European University Institute and to discuss the attendance of H.E. Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta, to the State of the Union conference in May.

In the framework of this visit, Ambassador Frazier also visited the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) at Villa Salviati. Ms. Frazier was welcomed by the HAEU’s Director, Dieter Schlenker, who presented Ms. Frazier archival documents related to Malta. After a presentation of original archival documents, starting with the independence of Malta in 1962 through its association agreement with the European Communities in 1970 and from the first request for full membership in 1990 until its full membership in the European Union 2004, Ms. Frazier received a private tour through the Archival vault and visited the gardens and the Grotto of Villa Salviati.
