Posted on 19 December 2016
On Monday 7 November 2016 Ioan Mircea Paşcu, Vice-President of the European Parliament, visited the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) and the European University Institute (EUI).

Vice-President Paşcu met with Renaud Dehousse, the President of the EUI, and participated in the EP-EUI Policy Roundtable: Evidence and Analysis in EU Policy-making: Concepts, Practice and Governance organised by the EUI’s Global Governance Programme and Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. Vice-President Paşcu chaired one of the panel discussions during his visit.

On Vice-President Paşcu’s agenda was also a visit to the HAEU at Villa Salviati where he was welcomed by Dieter Schlenker, Director of the HAEU, and then shown the exhibition of archival documents of the European Parliament currently on display in the reading room. The exhibition had been set up for the recent national ceremony of the European Citizen’s Prize 2016, which was hosted by the HAEU for the fourth edition.

The visit concluded with a private tour to the vaults where HAEU archivists presented the European Parliament fonds. Further to these institutional archives, the visit focused on the documents of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, of which Ioan Mircea Paşcu is a member.
