New transfer from Archives Service of Council of EU

Posted on 22 March 2017

The Archives Service of the Council of the European Union has recently transferred a very important set of documents to Florence. A total of 698 boxes were sent with 284 files from the Special Council of Ministers of the ECSC for 1965, 126 files from the European Political Community which was proposed in 1952 as a combination of the existing European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the proposed European Defence Community (EDC), however with the failure of the latter, the EPC idea was abandoned.

We also received 2520 files on the first three enlargements with material on the negotiations between the Community and the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark and Norway first enlargement negotiations, Greece  second enlargement and Spain and Portugal third enlargement. For the moment the inventories are only available in pdf and without a classification system but work will begin shortly on these very important documents.
