Ernesto Rossi (1897-1967) was an Italian politician, journalist and anti-fascist activist. He was arrested and spend years in the confino until he escaped following the Mussolini’s defeat on July 1943. During this time he wrote the Manifesto di Ventotene with Altiero Spinelli (1941).

Most of the files concern his huge correspondence with family, especially during his imprisonment.

His files give important insights into the Italian history but are also embedded in the European integration process, albeit Rossi joined federalist movements for few years.
