Open Day at HAEU

On Saturday 6 May 2017 the Historical Archives of the European Union will open its doors to the public. The event will celebrate Europe Day and it will conclude the seventh edition of the State of the Union conference organised by the European University Institute. 

The Open Day activities will commence at 10:00, and the visitors will be able to explore the architectural and natural heritage of the Archives’premises with guided visits to the gardens and grottoes of Villa Salviati organised by Associazione Città Nascosta. The HAEU archivists will lead tours in the repositories where the archival documents are held. 

Throughout the day visitors will also be able to admire the sculptures by Lorenzo Galligani and by Francesco Roviello, which are exhibited on the grounds of Villa Salviati. 

At 12:45 the EUI choir will introduce the Orchestra Sinfonica Giovanile Cupiditas who will entertain visitors with a concert. 

During the Open Day children and their families will have the possibility to participate in many amusing activities. From 10:30 onwards there will be juggling and acrobatics in various workshops organised by Scuola Circo En Piste, and tales and quizzes on Europe will be offered by Giunti Editore. 

From noon Excellent Gusto will offer tasting experiences  for all and homemade pasta laboratory for children. 

The Open Day will conclude with a concert at 16:30 by the Academy of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. 

It will be a wonderful day full of art, books, music and tastes. Stop by and enjoy the entertainment and culture of offer. 

Villa Salviati is accessible to pedestrians only, from the gates at Via Bolognese 156 and Via Faentina 261. It is recommended to use public transportation (ATAF: bus nr. 25, stop “Il Cionfo 01”, and bus nr. 1A,  stop “Salviati FS”) but there are limited parking spaces at public parking “Salviati” on via Faentina, and also Badia Fiesolana’s (via dei Roccettini) parking facilities are available and a shuttle service will commute between Badia and the entrance at the via Faentina 261. For visitors with disabilities and/or limited walking ability there will be a shuttle service available from the terminal stop (Salviati FS) of bus nr. 1A on via Faentina to Villa Salviati. 

Participation in the Open Day is free.
