On Thursday, June 25, 2020, Monica Stefania Baldi deposited her private papers at the Historical Archives of the European Union under the terms of a deposit contract signed between the depositor and the HAEU director Dieter Schlenker.
Monica Stefania Baldi was, between July 1994 and July 1999, Member of the European Parliament in the Forza Europa Group (Forza Italia), member of the Bureau of the Group Union for Europe, and member of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian-Democratic Group). She acted as first Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, Media and Sport. Furthermore, she was member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection, and of the Committee on Women's Rights. She was elected to participate in the Joint Assembly Africa, Caribbean and Pacific and the European Union (ACP-EU), where she chaired the Group on Climate Change in Small Island States.
Monica Baldi’s private papers deposited at the HAEU concern her parliamentary and political activities in the European context. The files relate to her activities in the European Parliament and include her interventions in parliamentary debates, working documents, reports, draft resolutions, statements, and parliamentary questions. The files pertaining to her political activities comprise her speeches and interventions during conferences, as well as documents related to Baldi’s political actions and humanitarian missions, meeting notes and press reviews. Baldi’s private papers will be allocated the code “MB” and made available to the public for consultation, after archival processing by the HAEU archivists.
