  1. Can I access the Library catalogue outside the EUI?
Yes. The EUI Library catalogue is freely accessible on the Internet.

  2. What kind of documents are in the catalogue?
The catalogue contains bibliographic descriptions of books, journals, working papers, theses and licensed or free digital resources. The catalogue also provides a growing number of links to the table of contents and/or full-text of some journals, abstracts and summaries, full text versions of working papers and other monograph publications, etc.

  3. What language should I use when searching the catalogue?
Although the catalogue interface language is English, users obviously can search for titles or words in any language. But searching a subject heading is possible only in English.

  4. Can I save/download the results of a catalogue search?
Records saved from the catalogue may be sent to an e-mail address or downloaded to a floppy disk, by using the 'Export' option.

  5. What do the locations SER, CAS, LSL, ... mean?
These are different locations used in the catalogue to identify the broader physical location of an item.

  6. Can I search for journal articles in the catalogue?
No. The catalogue contains newspaper and periodical titles, but journal article titles (or authors) are not searcheable from the catalogue. For that purpose, it is necessary to consult indices or databases.

  7. How can I find out which books or journals recently arrived in the Library?
There is a current display of periodicals aswell as a new books area where the most recently arrived material may be consulted. The Library also provides a monthly list of monograph and working paper acquisitions.

  8. How do I know which journals are in the library?
In addition to the online catalogue, there is a series of journal listings which are available on the web. They are organised alphabetically, by subject and by database provider. To consult these lists, go to the Journals pages.

  9. When you search for a journal title, what information does the catalogue provide?
All periodical titles are catalogued, be they scholarly journals, newspapers, bibliographies, etc. Although the catalogue itself does not contain records of journal articles, it frequently provides a link which gives access to volume and issue information. This may be a simple table of contents or full text.
