In July, the ICT Service will be updating (re-cloning) the PCs in the public Computer Rooms around the Institute: Badia SPS Lounge, Library, Villa San Paolo and Villa Schifanoia.
The Computer Rooms will NOT be closed during this task. However, we do wish to make users aware that there may be some inconvenience involved as small groups of PCs are made unavailable for a few hours at a time while cloning takes place on them.
This update will provide compatibility with a new range of search tools offered by the Library, besides fixing a few bugs and bringing some software up to the latest releases. A detailed Change Log will be sent once the procedure has been completed all over the campus.
Concerning the Library (Badia Fiesolana), except for unexpected technical problems, the re-cloning will be carried out over one FULL morning (Wednesday 9th of July from 8:30 to 14:30), in three phases.
Please, find below the re-cloning schedule:
- 8:30 to 11:30: Ground Floor
- 10:00 to 13:00: Entrance Floor
- 11:30 to 14:30: Top Floor
Please Note:
- IMPORTANT: be warned that ALL PERSONAL LOCALLY STORED (that is: on Drive C:) DATA and/or SOFTWARE on the PCs will be ERASED therefore be sure to backup anything before the scheduled date. The ICT can NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE or LIABLE for any loss of local data as per Computer Room Policy.
- each cloning phase will take approx. 3 hours during which the PCs on that floor will NOT be available AT ALL to the public.
Signs will be posted on each floor.
