Comparative Political Data Sets
Comparative Political Data Sets (Universität Bern) provide annual institutional and political observations for 36 democratic countries from 1960 to 2013 (updated July 2015).
The database is suitable for cross national, longitudinal and pooled time series analyses. Data for Greece, Spain and Portugal cover only democratic periods.
CPDS is prepared at the Universität Bern as part of two research projects directed by Prof. Klaus Armingeon: 'Handlungs-spielräume des Nationalstaates' and 'Critical Junctures: an international comparison.' Additional demographic, social and economic variables are included to give context to the core political data.
The 'Supplement to the Comparative Political Data Set – Government Composition 1960-2013' provides data on "party composition, reshuffles, duration, reason for termination and the type of government for 36 OECD and/or EU-member countries."
CPDS users at the EUI may also be interested in the CNTS database and International Historical Statistics.
