ComExt / Intra- and Extra-EU Trade Data

 

Data description

ComExt Intra- and Extra-European Trade data| provides statistics on merchandise trade among EU member states, and trade with global partners. ComExt, compiled by Eurostat, is based on harmonised data from the national statistical agencies of the 27 member states.

The ComExt DVD is available on the Library Server|.

The Instruction Manual is available as a PDF file|.

ComExt data is classified according to the Combined Nomenclature (CN) system,  used by Eurostat for tariff and statistical classification. The CN is an eight-digit subdivision of the Harmonised System (HS), comprising four two-digit levels: HS2, HS4, HS6 and CN8 – for a total of approx. 9,500 positions.

Trading partners are designated a three-digit or four-digit code. A number of aggregates corresponding to geographical regions (extra-EU, intra-EU &c.) are also available.

ComExt data is updated monthly on the EUI Server|.

Latest update: December, 2009.

Data is cumulative.

How to access data

1. Go to ComExt  |

2. Click on the 'CD-rom' link 

3. Enter EUI account name and password

4. Click on 'Start'

5. When the DVD interface opens, select the monthly or annual data options:

Monthly data – '2009#11 November 2009 DVD-ROM9'

Annual Data – '2009#S3A Extra EU trade by transport (NSTR)' or '2009#S3B Extra EU trade by transport (NSTR)'

Data are provided in ASCII format flat files – broken out by the 27 EU member states. Annual data is provided for the latest year; monthly data is provided for the previous 36 months.
