Statistiche Università e Lavoro (ISTAT, Italy)
Data on education-to-work transitions in Italy is provided by the Istituto Nazionale di Statistica (ISTAT) which conducts regular surveys of the school performance and school-to-work transitions of young Italians. Surveys relate to subjects graduating three years prior to observation. Data from six surveys are available (see access procedures below):

The Indagine sull'Inserimento Professionale dei Laureati, 1992 (Survey on Labour Market Transiton of University Graduates), is an interview survey of Italians who graduated from university in 1992, conducted three years after graduation.

The Indagine sull'Inserimento Professionale dei Laureati, 1986 (Survey on Labour Market Transiton of University Graduates) is the result of interviews of Italians who graduated from university in 1986. The survey was conducted in 1989 and 1991. This retrospective survey provides information on the type of degree obtained, labour market expectations, job satisfaction and other variables. The data also contains information on the socio-economic characteristics of the individual, such as parental education and occupation.

The Indagine sui Percorsi di Studio e Lavoro dei Diplomati, 1998 (Survey on School-to-Work Transitions of Upper-Secondary Graduates) carried out in 1998, presents data on the education and work conditions of Italians who finished upper-secondary education in 1995. The retrospective information gathered allows analysis of first entry into the labour market, academic perfomance while enrolled in upper-secondary education (number of exams taken, class attendance &c.), reason for interruption of termination of study. The survey also contains information on the socio-economic context in which the student grew up (parental education and occupation, number of siblings &c.).

Access to this data is restricted to current EUI members who have completed the registration procedure, as follows:

Sign the EUI 'Conditions of Use' agreement and the 'Confidentiality Declaration' at the Badia Library (Economics Office, 085).
Registered current EUI members can access the data directly from the K:\ drive .
The ISTAT data files are in ASCII format.

Stata 10 manuals are located at 005.369 in both the VSP Reference Library and the Badia Library.
Stata 11 software and manuals are due for delivery in autumn 2009.
