Survey on Household Income and Wealth (Italy)


Data description 

Indagine sui Bilanci delle Famiglie Italiane  is an Italian survey on household income and wealth from the Bank of Italy, also known as 'SHIW.' The data set contains detailed information on household composition, age, education, labour market variables, incomes (for individuals and households), savings and consumption. Information on credit, transfers and insurance is also available.

 


Time period 

Data from 1989 to 2010 are available via this Banca d'Italia platform .

How to access data 

Data is available in three formats on this Banca d'Italia platform :

Manuals for all formats  are available at the Economics Departmental Library (VSP) and at the Badia Library.

Selected backfiles are available to current EUI members on the K:\ drive:

  • To access the locally archived data, complete the online EUI Data Registration Form  (selecting 'SHIW-Italy' from the dropdown menu)
  • Sign the EUI 'Conditions of Use' agreement and the 'Confidentiality Declaration' at the Badia Library (Economics Office, 085) or the Departmental information office.

Registered current EUI members can access the data directly from drive K:\.

Stata 12 manuals are located at 005.369 in the VSP Reference Library and the Badia Library.

The Stata Journal  is at SER 51 on the garden floor of the Badia Library.
