Most of the information on the activities of the EU is now available electronically.
The EU member countries have transferred some of their law-making authority to the EU in certain policy areas, such as agriculture and fisheries. In other areas, such as culture, policy-making is shared between the EU and national governments.

secondary legislation in the form of regulations, directives, decisions, recommendations and opinions which are used to implement the policies set out in the treaties.
European Commission document register
DORIE (European Commission): a collection of documents put together over the years by the European Commission for its own purposes. The documents concern EU institutions and decision-making processes, and various intergovernmental conferences (including the 2002-03 constitutional convention) that have made changes to the founding treaties.

The Historical Archives of the EU are administered by the European University Institute of Florence which makes available to the public the documents coming from the European Institutions as well as those of pro-European movements and personalities.
Historical archives of EU institutions
A number of research institutes and think-tanks publish papers on EU-related issues. The EUI Library provides the references and full-text access (when available) to a selection of individual series.
Cadmus : a database of publications by the EUI community. Wherever possible full-text is also provided.
Archive of European Integration (AEI) : an electronic repository and archive for research materials on the topic of European integration and unification. At present, the AEI contains some 16,000 documents.
European Sources Online (ESO) : an online information service that focuses on the European Union, the countries of Europe and the issues of concern to the researchers, citizens and stakeholders of Europe of today.
Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l'Europe (CVCE ): Based in Luxembourg, the CVCE is an interdisciplinary research and documentation centre dedicated to the European integration process. Its mission is to create, share and valorise knowledge in an innovative digital environment.
