Using Google Scholar to access EUI Library Resources
The EUI Library has established a partnership with Google that enables the EUI community to link to EUI-subscribed online materials from within Google Scholar by clicking on the "Full-text @ EUI Library" textual link. Each user must set preferences on their own browser, as described below, in order to enable the linking to EUI Library resources.
Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature and references across many disciplines and sources, including: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.
From search results within Google Scholar, first try to click on the article link to see if you can obtain the full article directly from the publisher's web site. If the EUI Library subscribes to the materials, you may be able to access them from on campus directly from the publisher.

ON-CAMPUS USERS: You should see a line below the Library Links box labeled European University Institute - Full-text @ EUI Library. If there is not a checkmark in the box to the left, click in the box to set one.

OFF-CAMPUS USERS: Type "European University Institute" in the Library Links search box and click Find Library. Select

Click Save Preferences.

Perform your search in Google Scholar.
If the EUI Library has the full-text of the article, the entry will display like this:
Clicking on the "Full-text @ EUI Library" link will bring up an "Other EUI Resources" (WebBridge) menu, where you can click on links to bring you to the full-text of the article.
Tips on Using Google Scholar
Google Scholar does not know when the Library has a print subscription to a journal, nor can it match an incomplete citation (for example, if the date of publication is missing). For articles available electronically, search the Library's Electronic Journals List using the title of the journal in which the article appears. For printed books and journals, search the EUI Library Catalogue.

Google Scholar does not link to all print and electronic books & articles available from the EUI Library. For more complete information it is best to search the
EUI Library Catalogue for the book or journal title.

Google Scholar is fairly strong in science and technology subjects but relatively weak in coverage of the humanities.

Google Scholar searches a wide range of academic content areas, however many publishers and vendors do not allow Google Scholar's spiders to crawl their databases, therefore, Google Scholar's search results do not include research articles found in many of the EUI-subscribed article databases.
