Exchange Agreement with University of Wisconsin at Madison

Overview:

  • Up to four EUI students may attend UW for a period of one semester per academic year. They benefit from full-time graduate student status and enjoy the same rights and privileges as regular UW-Madison students.
  • EUI researchers in the second or third year of the doctoral programme are eligible to participate in the exchange, subject to the support of the faculty supervisor and departmental recommendation
  • Duration is 4.5 months (August to December- Fall,  January to May- Spring or May to August- Summer)
  • Programme benefits:
    1. Tuition/fees paid by UW-Madison
    2. €2450 (lump sum) contributed by EUI towards defraying living costs
    3. Registration costs up to a ceiling limit of US$ 1000 including mandatory US “SHIP” (Student Health Insurance Plan) health and accident insurance premium (or an alternative policy that is deemed adequate. 
    4. Free access to the UW-Madison student Health Clinic.
    5. Travel costs provided by EUI up to a maximum of € 650.

Application procedure:

 

  • Submit to the relevant academic department (plus one copy to Academic Service) by 20th January:
    1. Letter of support from the faculty supervisor
    2. Curriculum vitae
    3. Two to three page statement of intent ("work plan") summarizing proposed activity and indicating preferred period and length of stay.
  • 2nd February: Date of admissions Comittee's decision on EUI participants
  • Mid-April (approximately): the host faculty at UW should have decided on the admission of EUI candidates for the Fall term (October for the Spring Term).
  • Law students’ attention is drawn to the fact that the deadline for presentation of their application is 29th November 2010, and that specific conditions must be fulfilled.
