Exchange Agreement with University of Texas at Austin

Overview:

  • One EUI researcher may attend Fordham University School of Law for a period of one semester each academic year.
  • It should be noted that there will be no departmental funding for this exchange agreement.
  • No tuition fees will be charged by the host institution
  • Local service fees may be charged by Fordham
  • Each exchange student has to provide for his/her health insurance
  • No extra financial contributions from the law department are available

Application procedure:

  • Submit to the Law Department by 28th November 2012 (see Chapter 10 of the“Guide to the Law Department”)
  • A 3000-word essay stating the nature of one’s research and relevance of the programme to this research
  • A letter of support from the departmental supervisor, to be transmitted by the supervisor to the Law Department’s selection committee
  • The Department will determine the final selection and then transmit the files of the recommended candidates to Academic Service in February for approval at Admissions Committee at the beginning of February.
  • Recommended candidates will be requested to present a separate, complete application to the Academic Service by the Institute’s deadline of 20th January. The application will include:
    1. Letter of support from the faculty supervisor
    2. Curriculum vitae;
    3. Two to Three page statement of intent ("work plan") summarizing proposed activity and indicating preferred period and length of stay. (This is basically a shorter version of the long essay that was prepared for the Law dept.)
  • After approval by Admissions Committee in February, Academic Service will contact the host universities, asking them to forward Exchange Programme application forms to be filled in by the applicant. These are then forwarded to the US universities with the candidate’s file. They will then examine the files and inform the EUI of the result towards mid-April/beginning of May.
  • Further information available from Linda Gilbert , Academic Service (ext.231)
