The European University Institute (EUI) offers one of the world’s largest and most distinguished postgraduate programmes in the social sciences. A distinctly international institution, the Institute hosts a community of scholars drawn from over 50 countries. Its faculty is selected from the finest universities in Europe and beyond, providing advanced academic training and promoting academic research at the highest level.

The EUI covers a wide range of teaching and research topics, - its extensive visitors’ programmes attract leading academics and policy makers who take part in conferences, symposia and workshops, all of which are open to Institute members.

Research at the EUI is supported by a first-class “hybrid” library, where both print and digital collections are available, including 3,000 current print journals, approximately 10,000 full-text electronic journals and over half a million volumes.

Institute researchers also gain valuable insight into their particular field of study having full access to the resources of the Historical Archives of the European Union, the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) and the Max Weber Programme, all hosted at the EUI.

The EUI’s efficient mix of coursework, seminars and regular student supervision enables 80% of our candidates to complete their degrees – most in less than four years. Depending on the discipline, between 50% and 80% of our graduates find positions in academia. Others find excellent opportunities in European institutions and International organizations such as the World Bank, or the International Monetary Fund as well as in both public and private sectors in many countries.
