Alumni Accounts

Alumni accounts have the following characteristics:

  • A standard BPOS  mailbox. Alumni will have an EUI e-mail address. Expiring users who opt for the alumni services account will keep their existing e-mail address.
  • A network login valid for use in the common-access computer rooms, for dial-up access to the EUI network, and for VPN connection.
  • A 20Mb home directory on the RESSRV1 server. Departing researchers who plan to acquire directly an Alumnus account should take care to clean up their server disk space beforehand, so as not to exceed this fixed limit.
  • 500 pages a year non-cumulative photocopy/print quota.
  • 40Mb of personal webpage space.

Please note that an Alumni account does NOT give access to:

  • EUI software licences (for personal laptops)
  • Remote and Parellel Computing facilities.

For library access restrictions please see the Access Policy .

To qualify as an EUI Alumnus you must be / have been one of the following:

  • Doctoral research student [1]
  • LLM student [1]
  • Fellow (Jean Monnet, Marie Curie, Max Weber, etc.) [1]
  • Academic staff
  • Administrative staff member

An Alumni Account and access to some EUI facilities cost an annual fee of €30 (or €80 for a 3-year membership). Alumni and expiring users interested in obtaining this service should consult the Alumni Association  for details on how to settle the fee. Payment may be made by credit card or bank transfer to the EUI account.

Alumni accounts are granted on a yearly basis (1 October - 30 September).

The activation and renewal of Alumni mail accounts are done by system administrators exclusively on the basis of information transmitted by the Alumni Association to the ICT Service [2].  IT User Support can take no action in the matter.

If you wish to become a member of the Alumni Association, you are advised to apply for a membership before leaving the EUI [3].  Accounts left expired for a number of months before the user joins the Alumni Association will need to be re-created, and the user cannot expect to find again the old mail and data.

[1]  Who have been named for at least an entire academic year.

[2]  Depending on the type of payment, it may take from a week to 10 days for official confirmation to reach the ICT so that a recently expired account can be reactivated.

[3]  If you take an Alumni Association membership before your EUI account expires, we convert the existing account into an Alumni Account. Any remaining photocopy/print quota is cumulated with the Alumni quota. Please note that you will get a smaller allowance for data storage on the server so it is advisable to clear and/or backup existing data.
