Password Portal
EUI Policy requires that you change your password every 9 months.
You can change your password at any time, even if you are not on campus, by using a Web browser and going to:
https://postoffice.eui.eu/setpass/
This will open the EUI Password Portal:
Password Management
In this section, so long as you know your current password, you can change it and set or change the secret question allowing you to reset the password in case you forget it.
Click on Password Management to bring up the login window and login using your EUI username (e.g. jsmith), NOT your e-mail address.
Go to the Change Password tab.
If your password has expired, you will be sent automatically to this tab.
If you have not yet set a password challenge question, a popup window will remind you to do so. For instructions on this, see Setting a Challenge Question below. You can also close the popup and proceed without setting the question at this time.
Type in your old and new passwords where requested. The new password must be entered twice to make sure there is no typing mistake in the input. If the new password complies with the Strong Password requirements, the change becomes effective as soon as you click Reset Password and see the confirmation screen.
Please Note: you cannot change your password more than once in the space of two days and you may not reuse a previous password until it has been changed a total of ten times.
Complexity requirements for "strong passwords" are based on the following rules:
-
The password is between 8-16 characters long
-
The password contains characters from 3 of the following 4 categories:
-
standard uppercase characters (A - Z)
-
standard lowercase characters (a - z)
-
numbers (0 - 9)
-
symbols: only from among ! @ # $ % ^ & * - _ + = [ ] { } | : ' , . ? / ` ~ " < > ( ) ;
-
The password does not contain your account name or any part of your full name
-
The password does not contain characters only found on a particular national keyboard (e.g. ö, ë, å, ñ, é)
For more information about creating a strong password please see the Strong Password Guidelines .
To set or change a secret question allowing you to reset your password in case you forget it, go to the Set Challenge Question tab.
In the spaces provided, write yourself a “question” or suggestion, to which you will then provide a secret “answer”. It should be something only you know, but simple enough so that you would always give the very same response.
Click Save when you are satisfied with your entries. From now on, you will have the possibility to set a new password even without providing the old one.
Password Forgotten?
In this section, you can reset your password without providing the old one.
From the opening page of the portal click Password Forgotten? to enter.
Type your EUI username (e.g. jsmith), NOT your email address.
(If you have not yet set a challenge question, the portal will say “No challenge question was found for user”. In this case, contact your IT User Support office if you do not know your old password. Otherwise refer to the instructions above on Setting a Challenge Question ).
Type the answer you registered in the appropriate space.
If the answer is not right, you will see “IncorrectAnswer”. If you give a wrong answer 10 times in a row, the portal will say “Maximum reset attempts exceeded. Please contact your IT support” and you will not be able to proceed.
If you have given the correct answer, you will be brought to the Password Reset window. Follow the instructions above on Changing Your Password .
A Word of Caution
In carrying out all these operations, use the utmost discretion. Be careful that you are not observed while typing in your password or secret question and answer. Never leave your workstation while you are logged into the Password Portal. Close the browser completely once you are finished.
