Welcome Information

This is a brief outline of computing facilities at the European University Institute. This is part of the Welcome Information that will be distributed along with:

A Quick Reference Guide summarizing all the IT services available
Your Account Information Sheet containing personal login details
A department-specific Welcome Note
A Welcome DVD (for Windows or Mac/Ubuntu) containing useful tutorials to get you started, the EUI VPN Client and some Research Software for personal use
The ICT Service's Acceptable Use Policy detailing members' responsibilities when using the Institute's IT resources (implicitly agreed by becoming a member of the EUI).

Computing Accounts

Before you arrive, a Computing Account will be prepared for your use whilst at the EUI. The account gives you access to EUI PCs, EUI email, EUI WiFi and other services.

A personal Account Information Sheet will detail your username, temporary password and email address. This information will be given to you by your Department/Programme/Project/Service of affiliation.

If you are here at the EUI for less than one month, your department will issue you a Guest Account .

IT Facilities

All PCs at the EUI adhere to a standard hardware and software specification, and are currently running Windows 7 operating system. Network Printers are available for printing, copying and scanning.

Each IT User Support Office is physically staffed by IT technicians Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 (except VP-Site, on appointment only) and can be reached by phone, email or by visiting the Office in person.

There is additional phone support between 08:30-09:00 and 17:00-18:30 (in-term only).
