How to Modify Acrobat to Embed Fonts Automatically
To make sure that the PDF files you create can be visualised on any PC, and with the same results everywhere, the first important step is to include within the generated .pdf file the fonts used in the original document. Here is how to go about it.
Using the Acrobat printer
In Microsoft Word click File - Print.
Find the "Acrobat PDFWriter" and click Properties.
The following screen should appear: select Font Embedding.
Now make sure that Embed All Fonts is selected.
Click OK.
You may now either print the document from MS-Word or click Close and print from any application.
Using the Acrobat Distiller printer driver
Open the Acrobat Distiller program.
Select the Job Options type that you want modify, depending on the use you intend to make of the document: for printing quality you will choose Print.
Select Settings - Job Options.
Select the Fonts tab.
Ensure that the Embed All Fonts option is selected (as shown in the illustration below).
Save the new Job Options as PrintEmbedfonts.
Any PDF document created now needs to be created through the Acrobat Distiller printer driver in order for the fonts to be embedded in the document. From the File menu of the program being used (Microsoft Word, for instance), choose Print. In the Print dialog box, select Acrobat Distiller as the printer and click on the Properties button. Go to the Adobe PDF Settings tab and choose the new set of job options (PrintEmbedfonts) under Conversion Settings.
