BPOS Mail Client Configuration Settings

 

Below you can find mail configuration settings for BPOS. For a quick explanation of the different connection protocols, please visit What is the difference between POP3, IMAP and Exchange? 

 

 

 

POP3 / SMTP 

  • Account name / User name: same as your e-mail address (firstname.lastname@eui.eu)
  • E-mail address: your e-mail address (firstname.lastname@eui.eu)
  • Reply-to address: your e-mail address (firstname.lastname@eui.eu)
  • POP Server (Incoming Mail Server): pop.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com
  • SSL needed, port 995
  • SMTP Server (Outgoing Mail Server): smtp.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com
  • Port 587, requires SSL or TLS if available; in Mozilla Thunderbird, choose "STARTTLS" 
  • Outgoing server requires authentication: Yes (same settings as for incoming server)
  • Leave a copy of messages on server: Yes (suggested)

 

IMAP 

This protocol is NOT available.

 

 

MS Exchange (for use with MS Outlook)

Please note: different versions of Outlook (and/or MS Entourage) other than those stated above, are NOT supported!

 

 

Mobile Devices 

The settings below have been tested with MS Windows Mobile via ActiveSync and Blackberry via BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) and apply to all other mobile devices that use/support Microsoft ActiveSync and/or MS Exchange Server (sometimes referred to as Exchange Online), i.e. iPhone with firmware 2.0, Nokia E and N series with Mail for Exchange and NotifySync for Blackberry:

  • Server address: https://red002.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com
    Please Note: on iOS and Android, just: red002.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com
  • Account name / User name: same as your EUI E-mail address (firstname.lastname@eui.eu)
  • E-mail address: your EUI E-mail address (firstname.lastname@eui.eu)

EUI Academic and Administrative staff using service Blackberry devices provided by the EUI should refer to the Logistics Service  for proper configuration.

 

 

Troubleshooting 

  • the above information will work for any mail client (Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc. as well as Blackberry, iPhone, GMail, etc.) as long as it supports ANY of the above connection methods (POP3/SMTP and/or ActiveSync/Exchange).
  • If a Domain is requested, leave it blank.
  • For Exchange mode on iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) and Android, insert the server address as red002.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com (without https://).
