Debating The Pilot Test Implementation Of The Media Pluralism Monitor (Mpm2014) In Italy And Europe With Stakeholders

BACKGROUND: The proposed Workshop will present general aspects of the project of updating and pilot testing of the “Media Pluralism Monitor” (MPM), as well as its implementation in Italy as one of the case studies, included in the sample. As part of this project, the CMPF implemented as a pilot testing an updated and streamlined version of the“Independent Study on Indicators for Media Pluralism in the Member States - Towards a Risk-Based Approach", which was originally developed back in 2009 by a consortium led by the University of Leuven. In order to pilot test the MPM tool, the CMPF has selected a sample of 9 countries, which cover wide variety of media systems, political, social and economic contexts. The list of the sampled countries includes: Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy and the UK.This workshop aims at involving the media stakeholders in the debate on media pluralism measurement and explores their opinions on the MPM implementation. The feedback given by the stakeholders will be useful for the second stage of the pilot-testing of the MPM, as well as for establishing a more intensive collaboration with the stakeholdersthemselves.
